In 36 days I tattooed 53 friends as a tribute to the fleeting nature of friendship. Throughout my life, I've been equally skilled at making and losing friends, learning to value each relationship as a cherished moment, even if brief.
BESTFRIENDS4EVER explores friendship and loneliness. By tattooing my friends, I create reasons to spend time together as well as memories that will last even as we eventually drift apart. Each friend got one letter from the books title tatooed on them by me. Later I tattooed the whole title onto myself, giving myself a friendship tattoo with each one of my friends.
I printed the title on the spine using a handheld inkjet printer gun to give each copy a unique handmade finish, similarly to how I tattooed all my friends as if i worked at a conveyer belt.
The book documents my thoughts, friends, the tattoos, and the time passed during the process.
