The guidebook Detour maps places in Stockholm's inner city where women in various life situations feel unsafe. By collecting anonymous stories from women, aged 18 to 65, the book highlights areas to avoid. The project's form, an anti-guidebook, aims to provoke thoughts and discussions about how we move in the city and to provide insights into experiences of insecurity. The images combine self taken photos with Google Street View images to evoke distortion and an unsettling feeling of one's surroundings. Each copy includes stickers for marking unsafe locations.
Detour is part of Caroline Hallersjo's graduation project at Beckmans College of Design, in Stockholm, Sweden, 2024.
