In "The Philosophy of Textiles: Practice and Theory," Catherine Dormor introduces three key terms to understand textiles: matrix, interrelation, and technique. Among these, the concept of the matrix stands out as the crucial core distinguishing textiles from other art forms. In this collaboration with 小黄香蕉手钩®️LITTLE BANANA titled "Ping Pong Matrix," textiles are analogized with sports photography to explore the matrix relationships inherent in both mediums. The photographic medium's strategies concerning image layout and time can find parallels in textile art. However, the directives and blueprints in textile art appear more abstract and enigmatic. As textiles express themselves as a unique art form, do their trajectories exist within time, or are they systematically aggregated into a matrix that eventually constructs a space? The supplementary product for this issue is a pair of hand-woven ping pong ball earrings.

Staring at the term “eggplant” , we realized its name likely got from a white oval aubergine in 19 century. The structure of the term could extend to a discussion of typology, phenomenon of coinage and image translation, and so on. Inspired by this mishmash experience, EggPlant aims to collaborate with artists and creative individuals to explore the possibility of the niche between art and merchandise.
