Works in Practice (WIP) ’s first issue features conversations with Tyler Mitchell, Barbara Kruger, Humberto Leon, Michèle Lamy, Paul Pfeiffer, Imogene Strauss, Stephen Galloway, Isabella Boylston, and  Devon Turnbull, among others. It also includes interviews with all the commissioned artists of  the Performa 2025 Biennial, including Aria Dean, Ayoung Kim, Camille Henrot, Diane Severin Nguyen, Lina Lapelytė, Tau Lewis, Pakui Hardware, Sylvie Fleury, and many more.

Works in Practice (WIP) is a new magazine made in collaboration with pioneering live arts organization, Performa, based here in New York City. The inaugural issue of the magazine coincides with Performa’s 20th anniversary and the 2025 Biennial happening now with performances taking place around the city.

Performa was founded in 2004 by art historian and curator RoseLee Goldberg and has redefined the global landscape of live art. The magazine is an extension of Performa’s long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue and experimentation, while also serving as an ongoing platform for the broader cultural landscape featuring the artists, designers, dancemakers, filmmakers, and creative thinkers who together shape and challenge contemporary culture. WIP is an annual print and digital magazine aimed at capturing these voices and exploring how they inform one another’s practice and define the creative field today.
