The publication The Artificial Kid accompanies the eponymous cycle of exhibitions and events proposed by Elsa Vettier, curator in residence at the Maison Populaire in 2022. Through a selection of images, archives, texts and a set of interviews with the artists invited throughout the year, the book intends to unfold the questions of visibility, artificiality, control, surveillance, seduction and disappearance brought into play throughout the programme. Divided into several parts, it looks back chronologically at the different parts of the cycle: the exhibitions Aquarium (with Chloé Delarue, Guillaume Dénervaud, Natacha Donzé, Lamya Moussa, Harilay Rabenjamina and Julia Scher), Wonderland by Julia Scher and XD by Julie Sas; the public programme (including the antenne pop festival) as well as the residency of Harilay Rabenjamina, guest artist.
The design of the book is entrusted to Julie Héneault, who has designed the visual identity of the entire cycle. She used certain graphic and typographic elements created specifically for this occasion.
