Word or two is the first English translated collection of poetry by Chinese photographer Ren Hang (1987-2017).
"The book was translated from the first poem titled “Word or two” Ren Hang posted online. And the selection of the poems and design of the book were conceptualized based on the verses of Word or two. There are some considerations that we (me and my collaborator and longtime friend Casey Robbins) had during the translation of this collection of poetry with my personal experience as a model and friend with Ren Hang. The originality is very important here, the poet himself is a very honest and direct person. We spent a lot of time to form an accurate line to corresponds with the structure (style) of the poems. And we had tons of discussions regarding to cultural differences from choosing the right terms that make sense to both Chinese and English speakers, that was a fun part."
