PUTOTOY Magazine began as a clothing project, sourcing garments from various ‘ukay-ukays’ (Filipino thrift/charity shops) across the Philippines. These clothes were then adorned with embroidered graphics, initially intended for a catalog of items. However, somewhere along the way, an arts and culture magazine manifested, giving rise to PUTOTOY Magazine – a celebration of Filipino arts and culture.
In this inaugural issue, as PUTOTOY finds its footing, its aim remains fluid. Originally conceived as a means to connect Filipino communities abroad with happenings back home and vice versa, PUTOTOY is evolving. It’s a modest homage to Filipino culture. Yet, the beauty of PUTOTOY lies in its lack of pretense. While we approach the artists and content with the utmost seriousness and professionalism, PUTOTOY is supposed to be fun. It’s meant to be lighthearted and enjoyable, accessible and informative.
I feel the need to preemptively apologize for any initial hiccups one might find with this issue and welcome any sort of feedback via our website: www.putotoy.com.
Thank you for choosing PUTOTOY. The team is committed to continual improvement and appreciates you for the time you’ve taken to look through our magazine. Goodbye! Ingat! Salamat! 👋 -Publisher
