August 3, 1492 Columbus led his fleet of ships to the west to find the distant and mysterious eastern country, two months later they found a piece of archipelago, convinced that there is India, called the local residents for the Indians, and since then a new continent into the history of mankind. Western Europe has gradually become the world's trade center, which led to the integration of culture, the flow of trade has also led to the migration of population.
Through the exchange of species, resulting in the fusion of the human race.
Westerners call this "geographic discovery", but for the aboriginal people of this continent is a big invasion of colonial history full of blood and tears massacre. The discovery lasted nearly two centuries, and in the map of the Americas, the first discovery of the Cuban archipelago was like a rip that spread to Mexico and the entire continent to the south.
530 years later, in October 2022, my wife and I came to this distant continent, spent 366 days to circumnavigate the Latin American continent, through 14 countries, to complete this year-long exploration "feat". We walked along the routes that the Western Europeans traveled in those years, and felt the humanities and geography that have been influenced by the age of the great voyages to the present day.
Through this group of works, I try to show this “Hybird Continent” which is full of traces of the aftermath of the geographical discovery.
