Egg Chain Drips is a collection of works by Daisuke Kano. Accompanied by his own commentary, it presents thirteen books Kano has designed. Reusing paper stocks, printing methods, typefaces, and layout formats of each original publication, the works are reassembled into a single volume using varied printing techniques and papers. Formats are deliberately interchanged. Based on the premise that graphic design operates upon a certain degree of publicness, this work aims to reveal the operative function of the field itself. Through misdirection generated by interchangeability and rearrangement, it illuminates the fault lines within otherwise meticulously detailed processes.
グラフィックデザイナー・加納大輔による作品集。2026年2月4日から3月1日まで、書店兼ギャラリー「タイガーマウンテン」にて開催された同名の展覧会に伴い刊行された。本書は加納がこれまで手がけてきた13冊の本を、自身による長文の解説によって紹介している。それぞれの本に適用された用紙・印刷・書体・版面等のフォーマットを流用し、多様な印刷方法と用紙を用いて1 冊に綴じ込んでいるが、『Neutral Colors』が『風の目たち』を、『風の目たち』が『NEUTRAL COLORS 4 MAKING MAGAZINE』をと、適用されるフォーマットは入れ替えられている。
モダニズム以降のグラフィックデザインが、整備された共通の資材の選択のうえに成り立つという、ある程度の公共性を前提としていることに着目し、交換可能性と再配置によるミスリードによって、細部まで設計された処理の断層を浮かび上がらせ、グラフィックデザインが果たす作用を明らかにすることを目的に制作された。Neutral Colorsのサブレーベルであり、加納大輔による新たな出版プロジェクト、「Meian」から刊行。
