Makkink & Bey studio

Regular price $26.00 Sale

This little book, the story of the encounter between the Université d'Orléans, designers, the French Ministry of Culture and diverse institutions, and conceived by the graphic artists, ÉricandMarie, invites us to discover the work of the Makkink & Bey studio, in which a "history of design" is recounted through a historic bishop’s palace and the repurposing of a library (Hôtel Dupanloup, Orléans) into a new center for hosting inter-university conferences and research.

In 2012, the Makkink & Bey studio (Netherlands) was awarded the public commission for the designing the interior and furnishings for the Centre international universitaire pour la recherche d'Orléans. The designers Rionna Makkink and Jurgen Bey (director of the design department of the Rietvelt Academy in Amsterdam) created a suite of furnishings for this former bishop’s palace, ranging from tapestries to rugs and fully integrating the city’s culture, its past, present, its key places and personages.
