The special feature is "Language". We believe that language is the most revealing aspect of the individual. It is something that cannot be skipped even with the advancement of globalization. As NEUTRAL COLORS places importance on the uniqueness of the land, individual culture, and being an individual, this was a theme we wanted to explore. Trying to learn a new language at any age.
Something that is communicated through Braille, sign language, and gestures. Language is all about what we try to communicate. I am always reminded of this while creating the magazine. I want to convey something important, but I can't verbalize it well.
For NEUTRAL COLORS, language is "something that cannot be conveyed. That is why we wanted to try to convey this through the magazine as a whole, and that is what NC wanted to do in the "Language" feature.

特集: 伝わらないから伝えたい言語のふしぎ
特集は「言語」。言語は個人がもっとも顕れるものだと考える。グローバル化が進んでもスキップできないもの。土地の固有性や、個別の文化とか、個であることを重視する NEUTRAL COLORS としては探究したいテーマだったのです。いくつの年齢になっても新しい言葉を学ぼうとすること。点字や手話やジェスチャーで伝えるもの。言語とは「伝えようとするもの」すべて。雑誌をつくりながらいつも思い知らされる。大切なことを伝えたいのに、うまく言語化できないこと。別の言語の人と会ったとき、口ごもったり黙ってしまったり、言語の壁が立ちふさがること。NEUTRAL COLORSにとって言語とは「伝わらないもの」。だからこそ、雑誌全体で伝えてみよう、そんな試みと思考の変遷が「言語」特集でNCがやりたかったこと。
