How to Identify a Real vs. Fake LTTT Cap?

Start by checking the Kanji characters beneath the LTTT logo. Authentic caps feature “小东京卓球,” which translates to "Little Tokyo Table Tennis." Fake caps, however, display “邦基斯贝司”- pronounced /ˈbʌŋdʒɪ:sˈpeɪs/, homophone of Bungee Space if you read it out loud in Mandarin. Next, check the camouflage pattern and side panel. Authentic caps have unique, randomized camo designs, making each one distinct. While both real and fake caps may look similar, the differences are in the details. The LTTT logo on the side panel is present on both, so it’s not a reliable marker of authenticity. Finally, inspect the tag on the cap’s adjustable strap. Unlike the authentic caps, the others have tags showing a distorted “3SS” that appears as question marks, along with a bootlegged Bungee Space logo. Remember, only the exclusive LTTT and Bungee Space collaboration caps carry this unique detail!

★★★★★

Last year, when Little Tokyo Table Tennis team visited Bungee Space for the LTTT pop-up, we asked the founder, Jiro, about his experiences visiting China. He shared that he found a bunch of fake LTTT caps on Taobaoexcitedly. He even bought a few to compare—so well-made that probably only himself could spot the difference. During that pop-up, we released a series of one-of-a-kind upcycling collaboration featuring two massive “??” prints on the design.

This got us thinking—what defines real (authenticity) versus fake (bootleg)? What if bootlegged products have authentication codes? What if the bootleggers get authorization from the original creators? Or if the originals themselves start producing the bootlegs? Can one bootleg their own designs? We have endless questions about this matter.

Out of these thoughts comes this special collaboration: a “fake” LTTT cap by Bungee Space, with an exclusive LTTT x Bungee x 3SS authentication code, hidden in plain sight, created solely for this project. It’s a legit, original LTTT x Bungee Space collaboration.

Available in three color ways: Baby Logo52 Weeks, and the winter-ready Navy Fleece designed especially for New York. The collaboration caps are hidden among over 20 styles of LTTT caps— be sharp to spot them? 😉
