— New York Pop-Up

featuring

light works by John Junior Kim

with a live performance by Layton Wu

Taipei- and US-based label nul1.org lands at Bungee Space for a three-day pop-up, opening Friday, September 18 with a reception from 4 to 8 pm and a 30-minute live set by Layton Wu and band at 7 pm. Free and open to the public.

The pop-up continues Saturday, September 19 (11 am–8 pm)

and Sunday, September 20 (11 am–6:30 pm).

nul1.org is less a fashion brand than an archive. Designer Kevin Lin moves between the US and Taiwan, collecting what catches his attention along the way — local news, streets, shopfronts, the feel of a place, the people he meets — and turns those fragments into clothing, images and printed matter. The lookbooks are shot across Taiwan, often in places that may not survive redevelopment, so the work doubles as a record of what those sites looked like and what happened in them.

During nul1.org's pop-up at Bungee, the Spring/Summer collection is on offer alongside selected new Fall/Winter pieces, plus a bag made exclusively for this event in collaboration with Bungee Space.

nul1.org also works with artists, musicians, actors and friends around the label — the collaborations are how the context and the stories behind the work get across. The narratives are fragmented on purpose.

Shown alongside the pop-up are sculptural light works by Brooklyn-based artist John Junior Kim . Kim works across painting, sculpture and furniture, building objects from found and synthesized materials through a process that leaves room for accident. His light pieces set the tone of the space for the three days: less display lighting than a second body of work sharing the room.
