Let's Talk Books with Edition Patrick Frey!

Gloria and Stephanie—who both have been with the independent Swiss publisher for more than a decade—are bringing mini book performances to Bungee Space. Together with their local collaborators they will speak on urban happenstance, textile design for covers, graphic novels turning into artists' books and what trust has to do with making photo books.


Event agenda
  1. An introduction about Edition Patrick Frey by Gloria Wismer (Head of Press & Marketing and also the founder and co-director of Volumes, the independent art publishing fair of Zürich) and Stephanie Rebonati (Independent art book editor and writer & ​​International Publisher Services Manager at Artbook D.A.P. in New York)—both working at Edition Patrick Frey for more than 10 years. Gloria and Stephanie will not only introduce the history and publishing program but also briefly talk about books that are specially dear to them: 
    • Gloria will give insight into Pathé’O which she project-managed.
    • Stephanie will speak about Early Retirement which she copy-edited and project-managed.
  1. A book presentation by Kathleen Engman, the mother of Charlie Engman and the subject of his photo book, MOMKathleen will briefly speak on what trust has to do with making photo books.
  1. A book presentation and poetry reading by Armando Alleyne (painter & poet), Sedon Pepper (collaborator) and Laura Serejo Genes (co-editor), all relating to the artist’s book A Few of My Favorites.
  1. An audio book presentation of Heads Together: Weed and the Underground Press Syndicate, 1965–1973 by David Jacob Kramer (editor, author, creative director & former bookstore owner). 


Starting in 1986, Edition Patrick Frey has published more than 350 books until today. Collaborating closely with mainly Swiss but also international artists, the publishing house focuses on unique projects and produces books in small print runs. The purpose of Edition Patrick Frey is to provide particularly young artists an opportunity and a platform with a first publication, but the publishing house has also been engaged in long-term collaborations with several artists such as Walter Pfeiffer, Karen Kilimnik, Anne-Lise Coste, Peter Fischli & David Weiss, and Andreas Züst. With an output of up to 5 books per year, the publisher focuses mainly on photography, art and projects dealing with everyday and popular culture.
